This document defines the editorial standards and journalistic ethics governing State News Now. We hold ourselves accountable to our readers and the public trust.
Editorial Purpose & Independence
State News Now publishes independent civic journalism, public policy analysis, infrastructure investigations, and regional reporting across the United States. Editorial decisions are made exclusively by our editorial board and contributing journalists. Our reporting is never influenced by advertisers, corporate sponsors, political campaigns, or governmental entities. All advertising is kept visibly distinct from news content and clearly labeled.
Research & Primary Sourcing
- All factual claims—including legislative votes, statutory language, state budget appropriations, infrastructure timelines, environmental data, and regulatory dockets—are verified against primary public records, official state legislative archives, federal agency filings, published court opinions, and accredited academic research.
- Every investigative report and state monograph includes direct statutory citations and an archival reference section so readers can review primary sources independently.
- Where policy projections, economic estimates, or environmental impacts are contested, we present competing analyses with fairness and transparency.
- Editorial analysis is distinctly separated from factual news reporting.
Originality & Plagiarism Prohibition
We publish only original reporting and synthesis produced by our editorial team. Plagiarism in any form is strictly prohibited. External quotes and public records are attributed clearly with direct reference links.
Responsible Use of Technology & AI
Where automated tools or data synthesis software are utilized for document discovery, statistical analysis, or initial structuring, a human journalist and editor conducts comprehensive fact-checking and takes full personal responsibility for the published text, figures, and legal citations. No article is ever published unreviewed by a human editor.
Photographic & Media Integrity
We use original photography, public-domain government and agency archives (e.g., DOT, EPA, Library of Congress), and licensed editorial photography. Contextual stock illustrations are identified as such and never represented as official evidence. See our Disclaimer.
Bylines & Authorship Transparency
Articles carry the verified byline of the author (such as Senior Investigative Journalist Julian Vance) or the State News Now Editorial Team. We never use fabricated author personas or anonymous unverified bylines.
Conflicts of Interest
Journalists are required to disclose any financial, familial, or personal interests in topics they cover. If a conflict exists, the assignment is recused or the interest is disclosed prominently.
Corrections & Feedback
Errors of fact are corrected promptly and transparently. Please consult our Corrections Policy or email contact@statenewsnow.com.
