This page describes the standards we hold ourselves to. They are commitments to readers, and we ask you to hold us to them.

Purpose and independence

State News Now publishes criticism, history and analysis. Editorial decisions are made by the editorial staff and are not influenced by advertisers, studios or rights holders. Advertising is kept visibly separate from editorial content and is labeled.

Research and sourcing

  • Factual claims (dates, credits, budgets, box-office figures, quotations) are checked against primary or reputable reference sources such as film archives, official catalogs, contemporary reviews, published interviews and books.
  • Each essay lists the sources it relies on so readers can verify them.
  • Where sources disagree we say so rather than choosing the most dramatic version.
  • Opinion is presented as opinion and separated from established fact.

Originality

We publish our own analysis. We do not copy other publishers’ text, and quotations are short, attributed and linked where possible. Titles and headlines describe the article accurately; we do not use misleading or sensational headlines.

Use of tools and AI

Where software or AI-assisted tools are used for research or drafting, a human editor reviews and takes responsibility for the published text, including its facts and sources. Text is never published only because a tool produced it.

Images and video

We use original graphics, licensed or public-domain images, or material used for criticism and commentary, and we credit sources where required. Illustrative stock images are not presented as stills from the film they accompany. See the Disclaimer.

Bylines

Articles carry either the name of the author or the State News Now Editorial Team byline. We do not use invented author identities.

Conflicts of interest

If a writer has a financial or personal interest in a subject, we disclose it or assign the piece to someone else. Sponsored or affiliate content, if we ever publish any, will be clearly labeled.
